NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 2023 TransPerfect Music City Bowl, which featured a 31-13 win by newcomer Maryland over Auburn, produced impressive economic impact results, bowl officials announced on Tuesday.
Key highlights from this year's TransPerfect Music City Bowl include:
- Total Economic Impact: The bowl generated a substantial $23 million in direct economic impact on Nashville's economy, showcasing its pivotal role in driving prosperity for the city.
- Attendance: A total of 24,363 room nights were occupied during the bowl festivities, reflecting the strong support from both local residents and out-of-town visitors. Notably, 70% of the attendees hailed from out of town, highlighting the bowl's wide-reaching appeal beyond Nashville.
- Attendee Spending: Out-of-town attendees contributed significantly to the local economy, with an average daily spending of $242.79. Meanwhile, in-town attendees also made notable contributions, reporting a daily spending of $205.74.

Since 2001, the Bowl has used the Nashville Sports Council’s nationally recognized Scorecard report to measure the impact and effectiveness of sporting events on the local economy. The Scorecard measures economic impact, media exposure and community involvement based on ratings and surveys from participants, spectators, volunteers and media that attend the event.
The Nashville Sports Council is expected to release economic impact results from this month's SEC Men's Basketball Tournament in the coming weeks.
