NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The Tradition of Service Award rewards outstanding community service contribution by a football student-athlete from a Middle Tennessee high school in honor of Franklin American Mortgage Company’s commitment to “relationships built on service” and the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, Nashville’s Holiday Tradition.
This year’s winner is a recognizable name amongst all middle Tennessee high school athletes. Carson Shacklett from Brentwood High School has been awarded some of the top athletic awards in the state. His awards spanned from football to baseball. In 2016, Carson was awarded Football District Offensive Player of the Year, AAA Baseball Player of the Year, and was apart of the Baseball All-State team. After another successful season on the field, Carson was named the 2017 District Player of the Year.
The Tradition of Service Award represents more than athletic success, the winner must have a dedication to serving the middle Tennessee community. Carson has been an active member of ACT Like Champions at Brentwood High School. ACT Like Champions is a community service program that Brentwood High School created to serve the Nashville community with their football player’s help. Carson has volunteered with the Nashville Rescue Mission, Goodwill, and coaches children with special needs.
As for Carson’s future, he is unsure of where he will continue his football career. With schools like Middle Tennessee State, Dayton and much more interested can only infer that he will have a successful college career.
