GTU Brings Home the Gold in the 3rd Annual P.O.G.A. Tournament

The Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl Presented By Bridgestone held its 3rd Annual P.O.G.A. Golf Tournament on Tuesday, October 11th at the Nashville Chamber of Commerce office building in downtown Nashville. The tournament, sanctioned by P.O.G.A (Players of Office Golf Association), was formed in 1999 by the BOWL and the Nashville Sports Council as a form of after hours office recreation. Over the years, the BOWL staff has hosted many private tournaments, grossing 10's of dollars. After years of public outcry and lobbying, the tournament finally went public in 2003. Since then, hundreds of P.O.G.A. participants have enjoyed office golf, courtesy of the BOWL. The 2005 edition featured over 120 participants. The redesigned course at the Nashville Chamber of Commerce proved to be very challenging to some of the participating teams. The 2005 individual winner and recipient of the coveted Al Czervic Memorial Trophy was Ward Stein of GTU, with a final overall score of 43. The GTU team of Ward Stein, Donna Francis, Jim Savage, and Rudy Pry took home first prize in the team tournament, capturing the Judge Smails Memorial Cup with a total combined score of 187. Congratulations to all of the participants in this year's P.O.G.A. and special thanks to this year's sponsors, Nashville Business Journal, ESPN Radio 106.7 "The Fan," Bridgestone, Alfred Williams & Company, and Two Doors Down.
