Vice President | Events

Jay oversees the events department for both the Nashville Sports Council and Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.

The Shelbyville, Tennessee native is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a BS in Mass Communications/Public Relations.  His sports career began in minor league baseball in 1988 with the Huntsville Stars.  Additional stops included ticket manager with Boston Red Sox Spring Training, Assistant General Manager of the Jacksonville Suns and General Manager of the Clarksville Coyotes.

Jay’s years with the Nashville Sports Council and Bowl began in 1997 as the Music City Bowl’s Event Director.  As an Associate Director he was given the opportunity to oversee both event departments and in 2007, he was named Vice President.  In addition to his Sports Council and Bowl duties, he has served as the Football Bowl Association meetings coordinator and most recently as Co-Tournament Director for the 2014 Women’s Final Four.

The Nashville Sports Council events department has secured and managed a variety of different events over the years that include: Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl (annual), SEC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, NCAA Men’s 2nd and 3rd Round Basketball, Pepsi Celebration of Champions presented by Kroger (annual),  Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon (annual), Women’s ½ Marathon (annual), Music City Hits Softball Tournament, AAU Girls Basketball Tournaments, AAU Ironman World Wrestling Championships, USA Gymnastics Championships, SEC Gymnastics Championships,  University of Tennessee vs. Wyoming football game, University of Tennessee vs. Murray State Men’s basketball, University of Louisville vs. MTSU football game,  University of Tennessee vs. Oklahoma State Men’s basketball game, Franklin American Mortgage Charity Cup Golf Tournament, Dick’s Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup Golf Tournament, University of Kentucky vs. Western Kentucky football games and 2014 Women’s Final Four.

Future events include the SEC Men’s Basketball Championships (2015-17, 2019-21 and 2023-25) SEC Women’s Basketball Championships (2018, 2022, 2026) and UAB vs. University of Tennessee Football game in 2015.

Jay is an official card carrying member of Red Sox Nation and is a die hard Tennessee Titans and University of Kentucky basketball fan.  He and his wife Victoria live in the Gulch with their dog, Fenway.
