Boxscore

Joshua Dobbs accounted for over 400 yards of total offense and four touchdowns (Dobbs rushed for three touchdowns, representing a new Bowl record), while Derek Barnett set a new Tennessee all-time sack record, breaking all-time great Reggie White's longstanding record, when Tennessee took down Nebraska 38-24 in front of a sellout crowd at Nissan Stadium.

The 2016 Bowl between Nebraska and Tennessee represented only the third time the two historic programs had ever met on the gridiron. It represented Nebraska's first appearance to the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl and their first-ever trip to Nashville.

The game featured one of the highest combined offensive outputs in the Bowl's history, with the two teams combining for 839 yards of offense and 8 offensive touchdowns. However, Tennessee led the whole way. Nebraska closed the gap to one touchdown two different times during the game, but was never able to make up the difference. Tennessee would improve to 9-4 on the season following the victory and would claim their 3rd consecutive Bowl victory under Head Coach Butch Jones.

MVP: Joshua Dobbs, QB, Tennessee
